Veteran Community Liaison
Chris Sherburne is a 10‑year Marine Corps veteran whose service spans some of the most demanding environments of the post‑9/11 era. He deployed to Fallujah, Iraq during Operation Phantom Fury, one of the fiercest urban battles in modern military history. After returning home, Chris trained over 10,000 Marines and Sailors in Combat Water Safety and Survival and later served as a rifle instructor, shaping thousands of recruits while also competing on the Marine Corps rifle team. In 2009, Chris joined 3rd Combat Engineer Battalion, completing two tours in Afghanistan in support of combat operations.
Today, Chris is a sales manager for a major auto group, where his leadership, communication skills, and ability to read people translate seamlessly into the civilian world. His operational experience, empathy, and deep understanding of both Marines and their families make him an invaluable asset to the 3D CEB Foundation where he is able to see both the needs of the community and the mission required to support them.
Mental Health Advisor
“I’m a Marine Purple Heart Recipient who served with 3rd Combat Engineer Battalion and later went on to graduate from Fresno State twice, earning my Master of Social Work degree. After facing my own challenges transitioning back into civilian life, I became passionate about helping veterans and others who are struggling with trauma, recovery, and rebuilding their lives. I currently work as a mental health clinician serving individuals involved with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and a lot of the work I do is driven by lived experience, community, and the belief that nobody should have to go through hard times alone.”
The 3rd CEB Ambassador

He completed his service as a Corporal at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms.
After the military, Steven continued serving others through education, healthcare, and technical training. He earned his Certified Medical Assistant credential in 2017, holds an Associate of Applied Technology degree in Culinary Arts, and has completed additional coursework in Automotive Technology.
